Show Offs

What in the world is this?! Some college team who put their rowing team on the back of their bus??? I’m not sure how I feel about this…

If your rowing team has enough money to put their rowers’ ugly mugs on a bus, that doesn’t mean they’re good (aka fast). Good rowing teams aren’t about swag.

They’re about SWAGGER.

I may or may not be jealous that I didn’t have this when I rowed. We had Pater Pan busses that were named after Disney characters. But we won races.

Seville Trip – Getting There

Well… it’s about time I blogged about this!!

On September 21st, I traveled with 10 other Yale Heavyweight Crew Alums to Seville, Spain for the week to race.  We were invited by Real Círculo de Labradores to race them, another Spanish crew, Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge in 3 x 1000 meters.  It was the 150th anniversary of their rowing club, which has trained several recent Olympians in rowing as well as kayaking:
I had a TOUGH time packing, and then of course… I overpacked.  We weren’t really sure if we were going to have to dress up whenever we went around town, so I packed just about every conceivable outfit I owned.  And then only wore a fraction of the clothes I brought… typical me.  Here’s how it went down:
