Pet Peeves and New Year’s Resolutions

Cause these things go hand in hand, right?  And posting a New Year’s Resolution list on the first of March is timely, right?

On the drive back from VA after the winter holidays, the gf and I were checking out a gift she received: Sasha Cagen’s, To-Do List: From Buying Milk to Finding a Soul Mate, What Our Lists Reveal About Us.  Luckily I was able to look past the long title and actually open the book!  It was pretty cool, yet simple.  It’s just a collection of people’s to-do lists for various categories of life: Dream Jobs, Relationships, Obsessive-Compulsive, etc.  In between taking naps while the gf drove (btw she’s awesome) we decided to try our own versions and am posting them mine here for all to see.

First I had to get some stuff off my chest–pet peeves:

I’d also like to make these additions:

With people:

  • Those who don’t know what personal space is.
  • People with walk slow / short legs.
  • People who are generally in the way, know it, and DGAF.  I will be more than happy to drop a shoulder into you if you’re blocking the subway door.  I did once and I realized NYC has changed me if felt SO GOOD.
  • Those who don’t use as much enthusiastic text in emails / letters / text messages. Yes, I AM that excited to tell you that I can do a conference call at 2:30 or when I’m out of the subway.

With Bands:

  • When they don’t look on stage while performing. I paid to see your axe, not your ass.
  • “How y’all doin tonight?” … “I said, HOW Y’ALL DOIN TONIGHT?!” enough man!  I’m doing fine!

But here’s something I’m undecided on: people who have a big “hissssss” sound when they say words with “s” sounds.  Do you know what I mean?  It’s like if they said “So, I thought of something for us to do on Saturday,” it would be almost like a whistling parrot is mixed into their into there voice or trying to talk over them.  I used to think it was cool, but now it just bothers my ears.

Ok, ok, onto the positivity.

I’ll just let this one speak for itself:

(I would like to mention though, that the bourbon and blogging lines are doing quite well, thank you very much)
